Creole Cream Sauce Recipe

This Creole cream sauce is good on EVERY protein & most veggies. Seriously. I’ve tried it with potatoes, asparagus, chicken, shrimp, fish, and steak so far & it’s not a joke. You’ll want this sauce on everything.

Eating this sauce really makes me miss home. There’s no cuisine quite like New Orleans or SOLA Creole & Cajun food!

Here’s the sauce over salmon with asparagus. My husband loved it so much that I just gave him my portion to eat too & I ate something else, ha! Note to self: make a lot of this sauce at once to put on meals throughout the day/week.

Ingredients You’ll Need:

1 cup chopped onions

1 cup chopped celery

1 cup chopped bell peppers (green or green & red combo)

1/4 cup of fresh chopped parsley (or a couple pinches of dried parsley)

Cajun Seasoning (If you don’t have Tony’s or Slap Ya Mama - grab your garlic powder, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper)

4 Tbsp of butter or half a stick

1 cup of heavy cream (have more on hand)

Optional: flour & grated Parmesan cheese

Method to the Madness:

  1. put all of your chopped vegetables in a medium heated skillet. I use cast iron, but any kind would do. Use your spoon to move around the veggies to make sure they don’t stick to the bottom of the pan.

  2. Once the vegetables are halfway cooked down, turn your heat to medium-low & add your butter, I cut my butter into pieces so it melts quicker. Still scoot those veggies around to make sure they’re not sticking.

  3. Add your cajun seasoning to taste. If you don’t have cajun seasoning, then 1. be careful with that cayenne and 2. go get you some Slap Ya Mama ASAP! I use it to season everything I cook.

  4. Now that your vegetables are all the way cooked, turn your heat to the lowest it’ll go. Give it a couple of minutes to cool a little. Add your heavy cream. I start out with a cup & then add more if it’s needed or I want my sauce to be runnier.

  5. Let this sit to warm up and soak in the goodness for a few minutes and thicken up & then it’s ready to serve like this!

  6. Optional: Sometimes I add flour or grated Parmesan cheese at this time to thicken this sauce a bit. Play around with this!

That’s it! This takes me less than 10 minutes to make & it’s super easy and delicious.
